FOUNDER
Hi There!

Abena Nyarko
I’m Abena, founder and CEO at Know My Arts. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management from Temple University, and I’m an avid supporter of the economic advancement of the world through entrepreneurship.
Know My Arts is the reflection of my ideas and vision about entrepreneurship. I believe that businesses should be solving ‘real’ problems, and they should play their part in developing a better society.
Okay, but what has a business enthusiast got to do with arts?
Well, here is my answer…
I’ve always been a supporter of the arts, especially the African art movement. I studied visual art in Ghana and have witnessed the kind of potential artists have in this part of the world. I’m intrigued by paintings, photography, and digital art, and over the years I’ve come across great pieces by talents in these areas.
As I admire their abilities here, I should also mention their lamenting condition. Most artists in developing countries are underpaid and seldom get the true worth of their masterpieces. In these parts of the world the luxury of purchasing art or even taking the time to appreciate someone’s art is not an option. With a vast majority of these populations in poverty, there are very few true admirers of the arts in these deprived parts of the world. Artists are thus forced to sell their art way below their actual value.
Know My Arts will enable these artists sell their paintings to clients and buyers who know and understand the real worth of their work and are ready to pay what it is worth and more.
We’ve witnessed cases where artists have left art because of this industry’s inadequacy to meet their needs; especially in those parts of the world. Many keep at it for the sake of getting something rather than nothing.
Art is something that cannot be dealt as a formality. Art requires soul and dedication, and how can we expect that in an environment where an artist is not provided for adequately?
Know My Arts is an effort to reinforce art and artists of developing countries and help these artists to get what they really deserve for their efforts and skills.
Know My Arts is for the average home decorator, the first-time art collector, the seasoned collector, the interior decorator, and beyond.
Happy Shopping!
